Top story: Chiefs place UFA tender on EDGE Melvin Ingram
“The team has placed the seldom-used UFA tender, also referred to as the “May 5 tender” on Ingram. This means that if Ingram remains unsigned past July 22nd, he can only sign with the Chiefs for the 2022 NFL season at a cost of a one-year, $4.4-million-dollar deal. If Ingram signs with another team during that period, he’ll still count toward the compensatory pick formula for Kansas City.”
This will be something to keep an eye on. Despite drafting George Karlaftis in the first round, the Chiefs still need help at edge rusher and Ingram can once again fill that void like he did in 2021. This move is a win-win for the Chiefs who will get something either way, but I’d rather the team have Ingram in 2022 than the compensatory pick in 2023.

Top story: Justyn Ross medically cleared by Chiefs, has ‘a shot’ to make the roster
“The work to bring Ross to Kansas City was very diligent according to Chiefs GM Brett Veach, who evoked last year’s selection of Trey Smith as an example. He also explained that Ross has been cleared to play by team doctors.”
Ross has garnered just as much (if not more) hype as the rest of the Chiefs’ 2022 draft class. With Ross’ past health issues, there’s no telling what his NFL future will look like. It’s great that K.C. took a chance on him, though — it’s a low-risk, high-reward situation for the team. Everyone will be rooting for this guy to succeed.

So far, we know the Chiefs will play the Chargers in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football — the first of its kind on Amazon Prime Video. That game will be played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The rest of the Chiefs’ schedule will be released on May 12.
