Cowboys RB Tony Pollard to be inactive vs Titans – Cowboys Wire

Tennessee will be without their rushing leader in Derrick Henry. Now the Cowboys will also be without half of their one-two ground-game punch.
Running back Tony Pollard will be inactive Thursday night when the Cowboys face the Titans in Nashville, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Pollard is just 12 yards shy of his first 1,000-yard season, but has been a non-participant in the team’s practices this week due to a thigh injury. He is currently ranked ninth in the league in rushing yards.

Malik Davis, the undrafted rookie out of Florida, stands to get plenty of work alongside and in a rotation with Ezekiel Elliott. He’s logged 23 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown in his first season as a pro. He’s been in on under 5% of the team’s offensive snaps, but has seen over a third of the Cowboys’ special teams plays.
“Malik’s a true pro. I don’t know if I’ve ever run across a rookie that’s just as mature as he is. He just handles all his business, on and off the field,” Elliott told reporters this week as Pollard’s status was cast further in doubt with each day. “Any moment he’s had, he’s played really good football, special teams and at running back. Very smart football player. He’s got very good running instincts. He can block. He can do it all.”
Now with Pollard out, Davis will have a chance to do it in primetime against Tennessee’s second-ranked run defense.
