The Denver Broncos hosted Virginia defensive back Nick Grant on a two-day pre-draft visit last week, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network.
Grant (6-3, 185 pounds) was a safety/cornerback hybrid with the Cavaliers, totaling 136 tackles, 20 pass breakups, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one defensive touchdown and a half sack in 40 games in college.
He projects as a safety in the NFL but Grant can also play as a cornerback, and he might be a potential slot candidate for Denver.
The Broncos are a little thin at safety at the moment as Kareem Jackson remains a free agent. Denver hasn’t ruled out the possibility of re-signing Jackson, though.
Grant will likely be a late-round prospect or potentially an undrafted free agent candidate for the Broncos. If selected by Denver, he would likely contribute on special teams initially and compete for a backup spot in the secondary. The Broncos have eight draft picks this year.
