A strong season in the United States Football League has led to another NFL opportunity for former Michigan defensive tackle Carlo Kemp.
After leading the Pittsburgh Maulers with five sacks during the 2022 USFL season, which began in April and concluded earlier this month, Kemp signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, according to his agent Mike McCartney.
Kemp signed with the Green Bay Packers last year as an undrafted free agent but was waived before the regular season. The Boulder, Colorado native was signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad in December but was released in January.
He was selected 10th overall by the Maulers in the 2022 USFL draft in February and was a vital piece of the teamās defense. Kemp finished fifth in the league in sacks and eighth in tackles with 51.
At Michigan, Kemp had 81 tackles and 4 ½ over five seasons (45 games). He was an all-Big Ten third-team honoree in 2019 after finishing with 40 tackles, including 4 ½ for loss and two sacks, in 12 games.
