Matthew Stafford throwing again at Rams’ training camp
After not throwing at all during the OTA and June minicamp portion of the offseason program due to an “elbow issue”, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford was on the field and throwing during the team’s first training camp practice on Monday. (Source: NFL.com)
Fantasy Impact: The Rams indicated earlier this offseason that they would rest Stafford during the early portion of the team’s offseason program, so the fact that Stafford was spotted throwing again on Monday bodes well for his health status heading into the season. After the practice session, Stafford admitted that he still needed to knock some rust off after not throwing for a prolonged period, but that is to be suspected for any player after a lengthy absence. Stafford is positioned to lead a talented team again in 2022 as the Rams defend their Super Bowl title, but the offense has lost some key pieces from last year’s team. The offensive line has lost some talented veterans, Robert Woods was traded to the Titans, and Odell Beckham Jr. remains a free agent. However, the Rams did sign WR Allen Robinson in free agency and hope that he can return to his former Pro Bowl-caliber play after a down 2021 season and Stafford theoretically should take another step forward in regards to understanding and playing within HC Sean McVay’s offense as he enters year two with the team. Stafford is currently ranked as the QB11 according to FantasyPros ECR after finishing the 2021 season as the QB5. Without being a threat as a rusher, Stafford will need to maintain his high TD and passing yardage totals in 2022 to repeat as a top five QB.

Devin Singletary ‘easily got every’ first-team rep
According to Greg Tompsett of Cover 1, RB Devin Singletary ‘easily got every’ first-team rep at the Buffalo Bills’ training camp. (Source: Greg Tompsett on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Singletary is coming off his strongest stretch of play in the NFL, rushing for 323 yards in the final four games of the 2021 season, accompanied by six total touchdowns. The FAU product also had three touchdowns in two playoff games. The Bills brought in RB James Cook in the draft, but according to Tompsett, he received mostly second-team reps or split-backfield snaps with Singletary. Singletary is currently going as RB29 in PPR formats, and even if he loses some passing-game snaps to Cook, he has strong upside with the potency of Buffalo’s offense. He finished last season as the PPR RB19 largely based on his late-season surge.

Justyn Ross moved to injured reserve
Undrafted rookie WR Justyn Ross was placed on injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs, effectively ending his rookie season. (Source: Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Ross was a favorite by many in the draft community, and health permitting, looked like a potential steal for the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie. However, injuries derailed the talented Ross’ collegiate career. He went through foot surgery this offseason and was placed on the physically unable to perform list, but now he is on injured reserve as he continues to rehab his foot. With his rookie season over, low capital and a long list of injury history, Ross is a risky keeper in dynasty leagues despite his obvious talent.

Raheem Mostert cleared for training camp
Raheem Mostert announced himself on Twitter Monday morning that he has been cleared for training camp. (Source: Raheem Mostert on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: There were some recent reports that suggested Mostert might not even be ready for not just training camp, but even potentially Week 1. He is making his return from a knee injury suffered last season. From a fantasy football perspective, it is a tough situation for Mostert given how crowded the Dolphins backfield is but his familiarity with the offense under Mike McDaniel will be helpful for him.
