With all players reporting to Gillette Stadium on Tuesday for the start of training camp, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots hosted workouts for five free agents.
Wide receivers Derrick Dillon, Terry Godwin, Andrew Jamiel, and Cinque Sweeting, along with tight end La’Michael Pettway were all invited.
Dillion went undrafted coming out of LSU in 2020 and landed on the New York Giants. He was waived and signed to the practice squad that preseason. In the 2022 USFL Draft, Dillion was selected by the Tampa Bay Bandits in the 15th round. The 5-foot-11, 179 pound receiver totaled 386 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns with the Bandits.
Godwin was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019, but was waived during final roster cuts. He was then signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad and remained with the team until being released on May 16, 2022. The receiver appeared in three games, recording three receptions for 32 yards.
Jamiel, a Massachusetts native who attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and graduated from Stonehill College, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in Fan Controlled Football, an indoor football league and in the Spring League, a developmental league.
