NY Jets fill out rookie class, ink RB Breece Hall as freshmen arrive – Jets X-Factor

As Jets X-Factor reported earlier, Hall had been the lone remaining unsigned draft pick, but that ends just in the nick of time.
The New York Jets 2022 draft class is Hall In.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jets inked remaining draft day holdout Breece Hall to his four-year rookie deal. He joins his six classmates and the undrafted bunch as rookies report for training camp in several NFL locales.
Hall comes to New York after a productive career at Iowa State, where he scored 56 touchdowns over three seasons as a Cyclone. He earned All-American honors in each of the last two seasons and notably led the nation in rushing in 2020 (1,572).
Hall was the Big 12’s Conference Player of the Year in each of the last two seasons. At 36th overall, he’s the earliest New York rushing arrival since the team took Blair Thomas with the second overall pick in 1990.
It took some draft day maneuvering for the right to select Hall, as the Jets traded two picks to the Giants to move up two spots and leapfrog the Texans for the RB.
“The opportunity to add Breece is a unique one. He is explosive … that (running back) group is pretty explosive now between Michael (Carter), him, Tevin Coleman, Ty (Johnson),” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said on draft night. “It’s a really cool group to work with now, adding Breece and Michael is such a hard tackle, he never gets tackled by the first guy. Breece just has a slipperiness to make people miss, Tevin runs his absolute tail off, Ty is a really good third-down back, just a really cool group of guys, but to add someone like Breece who is a home run hitter, part of the goal was to add some guys when they touch the ball, they can take it 80 (yards).”
Hall will join the sophomore Michael Carter and fellow returnees Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson, and La’Mical Perine as well as undrafted free agent Zonovan Knight.
