The Bears on Friday signed the following undrafted free agents:
Jaylan Alexander, inside linebacker (6-1, 236)
Grew up in Chicago area, attending Hoffman Estates High School … Played in 36 games over four seasons, producing 226 tackles, 16.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sack and five pass breakups … Last year appeared in 13 contests, registering career-high 113 tackles and 8.5 tackles-for-loss and first sack of his career … Was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection as a junior in 2020.
Chase Allen, tight end (6-6, 251)
Played in 59 games with 34 starts over five seasons, third most games in school history … One of three players in school history to play in five bowl games … Caught 74 passes for 810 yards and six touchdowns in career … Was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021 … Was selected first-team Academic All-Big 12 in all five of his seasons … Last year played in all 13 games, catching 26 passes for 284 yards and two TDs … Had longest prep javelin throw in Missouri in 2015, setting a new state high school record … Won 2016 Class 5 state championship in javelin.
C. J. Avery, inside linebacker (6-0, 230)
Four-year starter who led team in tackles each of last three seasons … Played in 59 games in five years, compiling 349 tackles, 20.0 tackles-for-loss, 8.5 sacks, three interceptions, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries … Last year played in 13 games and recorded career highs with 97 tackles and 6.5 tackles-for-loss and equaled career high with 3.0 sacks.
Amari Carter, safety (5-11, 200)
Appeared in 58 games with 24 starts over five seasons, amassing 173 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, eight pass breakups and two forced fumbles … Last year played in 10 contests with nine starts, generating 45 tackles, one interception and two pass breakups.
Jean Delance, tackle (6-5, 357)
Played in 41 games in four seasons, including 12 starts at right tackle last year … Was part of an offensive line that yielded only five sacks … Started college career at Texas, appearing in two games as a freshman in 2016 … Sat out 2017 season due to transfer rules before resuming career at Florida in 2018 … Volunteers at Boys & Girls Club and donates toys to children’s medical center … Can play tuba, flute, clarinet, trombone, trumpet and baritone.
Micah Dew-Treadway, defensive tackle (6-4, 308)
Played seven seasons of college football, four at Notre Dame and three at Minnesota … Appeared in 29 career games at Minnesota, compiling 39 tackles, 5.0 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sack and two forced fumbles … At Notre Dame, registered two tackles in 21 games … Missed 2016 season with broken foot … Was named Academic All-Big Ten each of past two years … Grew up in Chicago area, attending Bolingbrook High School.
Allie Green IV, cornerback (6-3, 203)
Played first four college seasons at Tulsa from 2017-20 before transferring to Missouri in 2021 … Appeared in 35 games at Tulsa, recording 116 tackles, 5.0 tackles-for-loss, one interception, 14 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery … Last year at Missouri appeared in 12 games with six starts, producing 30 tackles and four pass breakups … Lettered three years in basketball in high school, earning all-district honors as a junior.
Cyrus Holder, receiver (6-3, 198)
Played at St. Francis University from 2016-18, catching 62 passes for 1,150 yards and nine touchdowns in 25 games … Last two years at Duquesne had 60 receptions for 1,120 yards and 13 TDs in 15 contests … Was named first-team All-Northeast Conference each of two years at Duquesne … In high school was an all-state selection in track & field and earned all-county honors in basketball.
Jaylon Jones, cornerback (5-11, 190)
Played in 50 games over six seasons, amassing 153 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery … Also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns … Sustained season-ending injuries in first game in 2018 and fourth contest in 2020 … Pursuing master’s degree in criminal justice after graduating with bachelor’s degree in multi-disciplinary studies in December 2019 … In high school, was named first-team all-state as a senior and helped team win back-to-back state championships.
Landon Lenoir, receiver (5-11, 186)
Played in 53 games over five seasons from 2016-21, missing 2017 campaign … Finished career ranked third in receptions (204), second in receiving yards (2,615) and fifth in receiving touchdowns (19) in school history … Last year was voted team MVP and named second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference after leading team with 61 receptions for 876 yards and 10 TDs in 13 games … Played for Crete-Monee High School team that won 34 straight conference games … His brother, Lance, holds Western Illinois career records for receptions, yards and TDs … His cousin is NFL receiver Laquon Treadwell … Graduated in 2020 with degree in radio, TV and digital media.
Henry Litwin, receiver (5-11, 189)
Played in 51 games over four seasons from 2017-21 (2020 campaign was cancelled due to COVID-19) … Had 221 career receptions for 3,392 yards and 42 touchdowns … Was three-time Academic All-American … In 2019, had 103 catches for 1,509 yards and 21 TDs … Last year was finalist for Harlon Hill Award (which honors former Bears receiver and is presented to the national Division II Player of the Year) after catching 67 passes for 1,042 yards and 13 TDs … Earned bachelor’s degree in Safety Management in 2020 and is working towards MBA … In high school, scored more than 1,000 points in basketball as three-year letterman.
Jack Sanborn, inside linebacker (6-2, 234)
Played in 44 games over four seasons, generating 227 tackles, 27.5 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, four interceptions, eight pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … Last year as a senior was named first-team All-Big 10 after appearing in 12 contests and establishing career highs with 88 tackles and 14.5 tackles-for-loss while also recording 3.5 sacks … Grew up in Chicago area, attending Lake Zurich High School.
Kevin Shaa, receiver (5-10, 166)
Appeared in 33 games over four seasons, catching 82 passes for 1,364 yards and 12 touchdowns … Last year set career highs in all receiving categories with 28 receptions for 516 yards and six TDs … Graduated with bachelor’s degree in Accounting in May 2020 … Pursuing master’s degree in Sport Management.
Savon Scarver, receiver (5-11, 184)
Played in 54 games over five seasons, averaging 27.4 yards on 107 kickoff returns with NCAA record-tying seven touchdowns … Also had 55 receptions for 757 yards and five TDs … Was named first-team All-Mountain West in 2018 and 2019 and second-team in 2021 … Was selected consensus All-American as all-purpose player in 2018 after recording 156 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns, 742 return yards and two TDs …Was presented with Jet Award in 2018 as college football’s top return specialist after averaging 33.7 yards with two TDs on 22 returns.
Master Teague, running back (5-11, 221)
Played in 31 games over four seasons with six starts, all in 2020 … Rushed for 1,764 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 118 yards … Was part of three straight Big Ten championship teams and two squads that reached College Football Playoff, including title game in 2021 … Teamed with Bears quarterback Justin Fields in 2019-20 … Led Buckeyes with eight rushing TDs in 2020 … Last season rushed for 363 yards and four touchdowns …. Graduated last August with communications degree … Was named Academic All-Big Ten.
Jake Tonges, tight end (6-4, 240)
Played in 41 of 42 possible games with 23 starts past four seasons after redshirting as a true freshman in 2017, catching 47 passes for 620 yards and four TDs … Last year set career highs with 11 starts, 22 receptions, 278 yards and two TDs … Was Cal’s nominee for Burlsworth Trophy given annually to nation’s top FBS player who began career as a walk-on.
The Bears on Friday also waived offensive lineman Tyrone Wheatley Jr.
The Bears on Wednesday acquired receiver N’Keal Harry from the Patriots in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round draft pick. Neal has appeared in 33 games with New England over three seasons, catching 57 passes for 598 yards and four TDs.
The Bears on Saturday signed top 2022 draft pick Kyler Gordon, a cornerback from Washington, to a four-year contract. The team now has 11 of its 12 draft selections under contract.
The Bears on Tuesday signed cornerback Jayson Stanley and placed guard Dakota Dozier on injured reserve. Stanley, 25, has appeared in eight NFL games, all as a reserve with the Seahawks in 2020.
The Bears on Monday signed veteran nose tackle Mike Pennel and released linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu.
The Bears on Tuesday signed third-round pick Velus Jones Jr., an explosive receiver and return specialist, to a four-year contract. The team has now signed nine of its 11 draft choices.
The Bears on Tuesday signed tackle Shon Coleman and waived punter Ryan Winslow. Coleman, 30, has appeared in 23 NFL games with 16 starts in two seasons with the Browns in 2016-17.
The Bears on Monday signed sixth-round draft pick Zachary Thomas, a tackle from San Diego State, to a four-year contract. Thomas is the eighth of the Bears’ 11 draft picks to sign his rookie contract.
The Bears have bolstered their offense by signing veteran receivers Dante Pettis and Tajae Sharpe to one-year contracts.
The Bears on Thursday signed quarterback Nathan Peterman to a one-year contract. The four-year veteran has appeared in 10 career NFL games with the Bills (2017-18) and Raiders (2019-21).
The Bears on Thursday claimed tight end Rysen John off waivers from the Giants and waived tight end Jesper Horsted with a failed physical designation.
The Bears on Monday signed six players who participated in their rookie minicamp on a tryout basis: LB Christian Albright, S Jon Alexander, LS Antonio Ortiz, DE Carson Taylor, S A.J. Thomas and RB De’Montre Tuggle.
The Bears have signed seven of their 11 draft picks to four-year contracts. All seven were selected last Saturday on Day 3 of the draft with picks that the Bears acquired in four trades that day.
