Rookie safety Darnell Savage wasn’t the only member of the Green Bay Packers defense interested in changing uniform numbers before the start of the 2019 season.
A day after Savage swapped No. 26 for No. 21, second-year safety Raven Greene turned his No. 36 for a new pair of digits. He’ll now wear No. 24, which was last worn by Josh Jones.
Savage and Greene will both be important members of Mike Pettine’s defense. While Savage is a starter at safety, Greene is the top backup at the position and the first option at dime linebacker, an increasingly crucial spot for Pettine.
Greene, who wore No. 5 in college at James Madison, made the Packers roster as an undrafted free agent last season. He played in eight games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
Don’t get confused on Thursday night in Chicago. No. 21 isn’t Natrell Jamerson. No. 24 isn’t Josh Jones.
